BCA is always looking for more volunteers to help us reach out goals and bring new, fun projects to Belchertown. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help us with grant writing, community outreach, fundraising, project development, workshop development, and more!

Become a Board Member
BCA Board members ensure that BCA is always moving forward towards meeting the organization's goals. Currently our board is composed of Small Business Owners, Teachers, Historians, and Artists. We are looking to add to our current board to fulfill expertise in Law, Development, Marketing/PR, IT, Design, and Project Management
The Belchertown Community Alliance’s Board of Directors must:
Uphold the organization’s mission and vision
Uphold and support the organization’s by-laws and policies
Act as trustees for financial assets and ensure financial sustainability
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Define and monitor key areas of performance and management of the organization
Ensure quality improvement in areas of the organization most in need
Chair or participate on at least one committee
Give and/or Get financial support
Examples include:
Applying for and receiving grants
Soliciting and receiving donations from others
Running successful fundraising events
Providing Professional Services that represent a current incurred cost to the BCA
such as Legal, Accounting, Bookkeeping or Payroll servicesMaking a personal contribution
Prepare for and attend at least six (6) Board meetings per calendar year
Prepare for and attend the mandatory annual strategy meeting
Volunteer an average of 3 hours per month for the organization
This includes time spent on Board Member responsibilities such as Board/CommitteeMeetings, raising funds, grant writing, programming, administrative tasks etc.
Volunteered time does not represent a financial contribution to the organization
Actively recruit board members, members, and volunteers
Define criteria for future board membership, officers and employees of the organization and ensure a proper orientation to those entering the roles
Evaluate and hire an Executive Director when the time comes
Be actively involved at BCA events and with its member community
Board Of Directors Additional Terms
The Board of Directors shall consist of no less than three (3) and no more than fifteen (15) appointed members.
Board of Directors shall hold office for a term of three years, or until a qualified successor has been identified and elected
Any Director may resign at any time by giving written notice of such resignation. Such resignation shall be effective upon receipt of such notice, unless the notice specifies a later effective date
Board of director elections will be held yearly as needed, at the Annual Meeting of the Membership. Needs to hold a board election include: to fill vacancies, and to reappoint or replace board members who have completed their terms.
