Quabbin Valley Quest

THE PROJECT:

Quabbin Valley Quest log and home screen mock up by Kirschbaum Development Group

Quabbin Valley Quest is a game-like mobile app featuring all the great recreational opportunities, history, and culture Belchertown and Ware have to offer. Explore new nooks and crannies, discover rich cultural roots, and learn more about some of your favorite local spots while earning prizes along the way. The BCA in partnership with the Town of Belchertown and Ware was awarded a significant grant from the Massachusetts Office of Business Development to begin work on this exciting project.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

The Belchertown Community Alliance (BCA) and the Quabbin Valley Quest committee of Belchertown and Ware community members are excitedly working on an interactive map-based cellphone app featuring points of interest in both towns. Users will explore neighborhood maps of our communities highlighting all of the recreation opportunities, historic significance, and general fun our area has to offer. When a user visits a point highlighted on the map in real life (GPS linked), they will be able view additional media resources to learn more. This could be anything from historic imagery/text or in this case ART inspired by the location.

Call For Quabbin Reservoir Art Submissions (all mediums)

Poetry - Visual Arts - Music - Creative Writing - Spoken Word

We would LOVE to feature your art that has been inspired by the Quabbin Reservoir.

Picture this - someone walks up to your favorite spot in the Quabbin. They get an alert on their phone that this is a Quabbin Valley Quest point of interest. When they click on it they see your artwork with a brief artist statement and a link to where they can purchase the piece from you.

Submissions are not limited to still images. Get creative. Record yourself reading the story that was inspired by the Quabbin, reading your artist statement, or explaining your process while they take in the landscape around them as well as your art.

The BCA values diverse cultural and artistic expressions as essential to more equitable and vibrant public spaces and recognizes that some artists may experience barriers to accessing opportunities to share their art due to race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, class, age, and geography. The BCA intends to prioritize equity in QVQ showcasing opportunities. This may include but is not limited to prioritizing artists who identify Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC).

IMAGE USE / COPYRIGHTS: Artist retains all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork.
